Well hello there! I know it’s been a while since I’ve written anything, but that’s because I’M PREGNANT! (In case you didn’t know..ha ha ). I’ve truly been taking it all in so that I can share with you all my overall experiences, which led me to this post. Now that I’m 37 weeks and I figured I could tell you all about the pregnancy symptoms I experienced in all three trimesters. I’m also going to tell you the remedies that helped me for each symptom. This post is lengthy, but informative so bare with me! 🙂

First Trimester Pregnancy Symptoms:
Motion Sickness – This was one of the first pregnancy symptoms I had that let me know I was pregnant before I took a pregnancy test. I have never had motion sickness, so I knew something was up! Here are the remedies that helped with my motion sickness: driving or sitting in the passenger seat and eating ginger chews.
Acne – I suffered from terrible acne in the first trimester. The most difficult part was finding products that I could use. I couldn’t use the normal products that would use to combat those huge zits! ( I was very paranoid on what products were pregnancy approved.) So I kept my skin regimen really simple and the acne eventually cleared. I used a cleanser (for oily skin), a toner, then a moisturizer or oil (at night). Here are the products that I used: CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, witch hazel, Clinique Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Lotion, and rosehip oil.
Tender Breasts – Sometimes my breasts hurt to touch. It was awful. The only remedy that helped, especially at night, was to wear comfortable bras. I also made sure that they were nursing bras, so I could wear them after pregnancy. These bras were/are my favorite: Motherhood Maternity Full Coverage Bra and Women’s Nursing Seamless Bra – Auden™.
Second Trimester Pregnancy Symptoms:
Round Ligament Pain – This symptom only lasted for about a week, but it was SO UNCOMFORTABLE. My saving grace was my pregnancy belt that my doctor gave me. It instantly gave me relief. If your doctor doesn’t have any, here is a similar one off of Amazon!
Hip Pain (at night) – This pregnancy symptom surprised me. I’m not sure why it did, but when the doctor explained to me what caused the hip pain it made perfect sense. He told me that the weight of the baby and my uterus is pressing on my hips when I lay on my sides. He suggested putting pillows between my legs at night or buying a pregnancy pillow. Let me tell y’all my pregnancy pillow is my bestfriend! This is the one I bought, and I love it!!!
Stretch Marks – I truly believe that there’s no remedy for avoiding stretch marks. I think it’s genetic, however some people will swear by products that helped them avoid getting them. The only true remedy I have is to love your stretch marks. They are the love marks your beautiful baby gave you as proof that you carried him/her.
Third Trimester Pregnancy Symptoms (so far):
Hemorrhoids – These bad boys get on my last nerves. They only started to pop up in my last trimester, and not even every day…SPORADICALLY. I never had constipation or hard stools, so it was just a matter of the amount of pressure baby girl was putting down there. There are 4 remedies that worked for me: soaking in a warm bath (for about 15 minutes), Preparation H (hemorrhoid cream), witch hazel, and flushable wipes. I usually soak every night when I feel discomfort. I use the Preparation H after every bowel movement and before I go to sleep. Whenever I don’t feel like using the cream, I spray witch hazel on a cotton pad and dab the hemorrhoids. When “that area” is really sensitive, I use flushable wipes. They don’t feel as hard as toilet paper (even when the toilet paper says “extra” soft) and they are a lifesaver!
Shortness of Breath – This would only really a happen if I was going up the stairs or walking faster than normal to get somewhere. The only remedy have for this is to take your time.
Pelvis Pressure – Some days I feel like when I walk I have a bowling ball between my legs! That’s how strong the pressure feels. I really suggest using the pregnancy belt that I recommended for round ligament pain. It gave me instant relief!
Insomnia – Waking up to go pee and then not being able to go back to sleep is THE WORST! I’m still trying to find a remedy for this pregnancy symptom…
Symptoms that Occurred in all Three Trimesters:
Flatulence – Yall… I haven’t farted and burped so much in my life. The farting was during the first trimester, but the burping has been going on since the second trimester. These aren’t quiet burps either. THEY ARE LOUD. I shock myself and my husband. My doctor said Tums might help, but I never took any. I praise God I got burps instead of heartburn. I have never has heartburn before, but I’ve heard that it’s not fun.
Exhaustion – This pregnancy symptom surprised me a little because I didn’t think I was going to be as exhausted as I was. I was exhausted almost instantly. I have had the most energy this trimester, even though I started to have no energy around 36 weeks. The only remedy I can think of is to listen to your body. It will tell you to rest!
Nipple Soreness – My nipples were sore from the very beginning. This is another pregnancy symptom that was sporadic. They would be normal for two weeks and then become sore for a couple days. Then go back to normal again. I couldn’t find a remedy for sore nipples. I just had to tough it out. Sorry ladies!
Dry Skin – I started to get dry skin towards the end of the first trimester and it has stuck with me the whole time. It is only around my neck and on my chest. I’ve never had dry skin before so this was really new for me! (It doesn’t help that Japan’s water is hard on my skin). The lotions/creams that has helped me are: Aveeno Skin Relief 24-Hour Moisturizing Lotion and Eucerin Original Healing Lotion.
Mood Swings – My emotions were every where during this pregnancy. I could be laughing and then start crying. I could snap on my husband for something so small like listening to his sport videos too loudly. (Those are really annoying though.) There was no remedy for this. I just had to talk myself down some days.
As you can see, my pregnancy symptoms were very mild compared to the horror stories I’ve heard. I’m very blessed that my pregnancy has been going so smoothly. I did, however, want to be transparent and tell you all of the symptoms I have had. I hope the remedies that I shared can help you or can help someone you know!
Thank you so much for reading this entire post. Let me know in the comments if what pregnancy symptoms you’ve experienced and how you dealt with them! You never know you may help someone that is reading this! 🙂
