Happy New Year!! This year I’m making a commitment to take better care of our beautiful planet. I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with Out of the Woods to review some of their sustainable bags! If you’re interested in learning more about them and my thought on their products please keep reading!
This is a paid collaboration, but all thoughts are my own. Also, if you purchase from any of the links in this post I will get a commission from it. Thank you in advance for your support!
What does sustainable mean?
Okay class, let’s dig into what sustainable means. My favorite definition that I found was by the United Nations in 1987. They said sustainability means, “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Now, you may ask what the “needs of the present” are. Well, I dare say that some of those needs include but are not limited to safe housing, clean water, and nutritious food. So sustainability means meeting those needs while keeping our future generations in mind.
Who is “Out of the Woods”?
I’ll be completely honest before they reached out to me I had never heard of the Out of the Woods brand. So I had to do a little more digging into who they were. As stated on their website their mission is, “To reduce the negative impact on the environment by developing lasting products made of better materials.”
I think this is an amazing mission to have. Why? Because it guarantees 2 things for the consumer. I know that if I purchase something from Out of the Woods, I will be helping the environment AND I will have a product that is made of materials that are of great quality. I mean I don’t know about you but I can’t stand it when I buy something and it does last a long time. Especially something that I use a lot like a bag.
One of the unique things I also learned about how Out of the Woods makes sustainable bags is that they use a material they call Supernatural Paper. Here is how they describe what it is,
“Our bags are made from Supernatural Paper™. Supernatural Paper™ is made from trees – tree cellulose, that is – and bonded to make it durable and washable, giving it supernatural qualities. Because trees are a renewable resource and our cellulose is derived from responsibly managed forests, our bags are more sustainable with a lower carbon footprint than traditional materials like leather, cotton, or other petroleum-based materials.“
Here are the 3 bags I’m obsessed with:
Walrus Cooler
At first glance, it looks like a stylish paper bag with handles. When I opened it up, I didn’t think it was the cooler at all. It just didn’t look like a traditional cooler (which I love). I also love that it’s super lightweight. I tested this sustainable cooler out by buying frozen groceries to see if it actually remained frozen until I got home. To my surprise, it did. It also does a great job keeping my daughter’s food and milk chilled. (This is perfect for when we have picnics at the park!)
Washable Paper Backpack
My love for backpacks runs deep. When Out of the Woods offered me their Washable Paper Backpack, I immediately said, “Yes PLEASE!” I am able to fit so much into this backpack. It has an inner laptop pouch to keep my laptop and iPad secure. There’s also enough room to add additional work materials like my camera and a small tripod. I’ve even converted this backpack into my diaper bag many times. If you’re looking for a sustainable backpack that is stylish, spacious, and washable, then this is the one that you want!
Boxy Tote Mini
The Boxy Tote Mini is just such an adorable sustainable bag. For adults is perfect for packing something small like a book or journal and some snacks. For children, this mini tote bag is perfect for packing their own toys, books, and/or snacks. I frequently use this bag to pack my daughter’s things. She loves to have them in the back of the car with her. She loves this bag because “she has a purse like Mama!” So, if you’re looking for a small tote bag for your stuff or your children’s things, this is the perfect one for you!
